And who wouldn't be ... what a delicious bundle of baby goodness.
In a somewhat coincidental turn of events this historic moment in time coincides with an historical moment of my own.
On this day ... sixteen long, though short years ago ... I was going through a very similar experience ... but without the royal connection, the media, the security guards and the general agog.
Just after midday on this day, sixteen years ago ... I welcomed my own bouncing boy ... after a 34 hour labour. YES people, a 34 HOUR LABOUR!
I was exhausted, shell shocked, scared ... but very happy.
See ... just like Kate ... minus the glamour.
Every bit as glamourous. Happy Birthday to your baby.
ReplyDeleteYou are much too kind Connie ... and I'll pass on the birthday wishes :0)

Ah, happy birthday to your son! Those proud, exhausted, not-quite-on-this-planet post-birth photos are priceless. I am happy for William and Kate as I would be for any young couple - aside from that, I'm not that interested! xxxxx
ReplyDelete"not-quite-on-this-planet" certainly sums it up ... it all felt pretty surreal at that point :0)

In some ways your photos are more glamourous. They are pure mother and child meeting not media to "pose" for.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your son. Guess he will becom Master 16 now.
Love your blog. I read it everyday. Love your poems too!
Thank you so much Carla ... I love to know who is actually reading this old blog :0)

I felt sorry for kate...no doubt the very last thing she wanted to do was face that throng...im sure she would have preferred to be in tracky dacks snugglin her bub. And like you im sure she is exhausted shell shocked and scared shitless.....she just gets to do it with a stylist! x
ReplyDeleteToo true ... I'm sure she just wished they would all go away and leave her alone.

Who would want the glamour when you can have the tracky dacks!
ReplyDeleteps: I agree, angels do have red hair, although my angel is a little bit of a naughty angel.

All the best angels have a naughty side :0)

Different worlds maybe, but beautiful, priceless moments in any world. x
ReplyDeleteYep ... doesn't matter how famous you are or how much money you have ... meeting your bub for the first time is priceless. We're all millionaires at that moment :0)

I doubt Kate felt especially glam either. Does anyone during / immediately after birth? I can't believe she had to front up in her polka dot frock the day after giving birth. And smile at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your boy. x
And endure all the comparisons to Diana's polka dot frock as well. Better her than me.

Yes we've all done it - just without the Royal lineage and media!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for that :0)
