Baby love ...

The world's media is currently agog over the brand new baby arrival.

And who wouldn't be ... what a delicious bundle of baby goodness.

In a somewhat coincidental turn of events this historic moment in time coincides with an historical moment of my own.

On this day ... sixteen long, though short years ago ... I was going through a very similar experience ... but without the royal connection, the media, the security guards and the general agog.

Just after midday on this day, sixteen years ago ... I welcomed my own bouncing boy ... after a 34 hour labour.  YES people, a 34 HOUR LABOUR!

I was exhausted, shell shocked, scared ... but very happy.

See ... just like Kate ... minus the glamour.

  2. Ah, happy birthday to your son! Those proud, exhausted, not-quite-on-this-planet post-birth photos are priceless. I am happy for William and Kate as I would be for any young couple - aside from that, I'm not that interested! xxxxx

    1. "not-quite-on-this-planet" certainly sums it up ... it all felt pretty surreal at that point :0)

  3. In some ways your photos are more glamourous. They are pure mother and child meeting not media to "pose" for.

Happy birthday to your son. Guess he will becom Master 16 now.

Love your blog. I read it everyday. Love your poems too!

  5. Who would want the glamour when you can have the tracky dacks!
ps: I agree, angels do have red hair, although my angel is a little bit of a naughty angel.

  8. I doubt Kate felt especially glam either. Does anyone during / immediately after birth? I can't believe she had to front up in her polka dot frock the day after giving birth. And smile at the same time.

Happy birthday to your boy. x

    1. And endure all the comparisons to Diana's polka dot frock as well. Better her than me.
