"How come?"
"I'm really sick...I've got a cold....I keep sneezing...my ears are bung....I really don't think I can go to school"
"Really?".....I know I sound sceptical...but that's because I am. Yesterday...he was fine...he went out to the shops with his friends after school....he didn't complain once about feeling unwell...he asked for takeaway for dinner.
"I'm just going to stay in bed and sleep."
"Oh...okay then....well I'll just keep your phone with me...you won't be needing it."
"Why? Everyone will be at school...I won't be using it."
"Then it won't matter that it's with me. I'll keep your phone and you can go to bed and sleep undisturbed."
"I'll just go to school."
Mmmmmm!!!
Their brains work in mysterious ways . . .

ReplyDeleteDoesn't he realise he's trying to manipulate the master manipulator :0)
DeleteVery good! I really was a sickly child and in primary school regularly had more than half each term off sick or having treatment. However there were occasions when I tried something as your son did. Mum always saw through it. Genuinely sick and I received a lot of care. Bunging it on and I had to stay in bed with blinds closed and NO BOOKS! Needless to say, I didn't try to pull that trick too often.
ReplyDeleteI think Mothers have a 6th sense for these things :0)
