Things I wish I had known back then....

We all live and learn.....and I'm sure every single one of us has a few things we would have benefited from if the penny had dropped a little sooner....here's a few of mine....

  1. Don't be in such a hurry....life goes by at breakneck speed all on it's own.
  2. If my baby is not toilet trained by 18 months...it does not mean they will be incontinent for the rest of their lives.
  3. When your Husband has kidney stones and needs you to drive him to the hospital...don't take the time to blow-dry your hair....he will never let you forget it.
  4. Don't stress about calculus, algebra and trigonometry...you will never use it again.
  5. It doesn't matter if he calls you or not...he is a tool and you ARE better off without him.
  6. Be happy with how you look right now....it's only going to get worse.
  7. Computers really are the way of the future.
  8. Childbirth hurts....really, really hurts.
  9. In your 20's...don't spend every cent you earn...every week...saving a little really will make your life easier in the future.
  10. Listen in English...good grammar does matter.
  11. Things always have a way of working themselves out.
  12. You are not ruining your child's life if you don't let them do swimming, cricket, karate, guitar, AFL, piano AND soccer.
  13. Investing in a film processing or video rental store is not a good long term plan....investing in Apple, gaming consoles and social networking probably is.
  14. Value the love and company of your parents...you will not have them for ever.
  15. If your baby is not walking by his 1st birthday...it will make no difference by their 2nd birthday.
  16. Once you leave school....nobody will ever ask what mark you got in your HSC.
  17. By the time you finally decide to embrace your hair colour...it will start to go grey.
  18. Drunkenly kissing that boy at the office will lead to a life in the suburbs, no career, 2 kids and a mortgage.
  19. Everybody else is not necessarily happier and more content than you are.
  20. Making your kids do chores is not mean.
  21. Social networking is not only for 14 year old girls.
  22. Bringing up kids is frustrating, scary and expensive....oh so expensive.
  23. Don't expect your love life to read like a Mills & Boon novel.
  24. PMS is not a figment of anyone's imagination.
  25. Writing a book about teenage vampires is not a stupid idea.
  26. Learn to have patience...you're going to need it.

Has anyone got some of their own to add?

  1. Wear those stilettos while you can - comfy old lady shoes are just over the horizon!
