Food ... glorious ... food ...

Master 16:  Mum ... there's nothing to eat.

Me:  Sure there is ... look in the cupboard.

Master 16:  I have ... and there's nothing ... and I'm starving.

Me:  Make yourself a sandwich ... or some toast.

Master 16:  No ... I need proper food ... and there's not a SINGLE THING to eat.

Me:  Are you sure?

Master 16:  There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to eat in this house ... I'm STARVING ... I'm getting a HEADACHE ... you're going to have to go out and get me some KFC ... ASAP!

  1. I can still hear my mum saying, "If you can't eat bread/fruit, you're not really hungry."

I'm old enough to be his grandmother, so obviously it's something children say. Equally, mum's reply is true. Noodles? scrambled egg on toast? cheese on toast? Lots of options, really.
