Horrifying Happenings on Halloween ...

I went to the shops earlier in the week.

I saw something there that horrified me.

Tell me it isn't so.

And while I'm on the subject of horrifying decorations … Master 16 has declared he wants one of these.

Now it's not that I hate them … on other people.

It's not that I can't appreciate that they look kind of hip … on other people's children.

Just not my children.

I know I'm being old fashioned.  I know I'm being the uncool Mum.  I know I sound just like my Mother … "If God meant you to have holes in your ears/nose he'd have put them there".  But the thought of him getting a ring through his nose kind of freaks me out … okay … totally freaks me out.

At 16 he is … apparently ... legally able to get one without my permission.  So that's it I guess … all parental control down the gurgler … BOO HOO.

In other Master 16 news … he has his Year 10 formal coming up very shortly … preparations are being made.  Here's a quick sneak peek.

New outfit means new shoes … and I just want to know … where, when and how did his feet get so incredibly, humongously and horrifyingly BIG … and are they ever going to stop growing?

What's horrifying you this Halloween?

What do you think of nose rings?

    1. I don't see the point of Halloween either … I find Christmas rarely lives up to expectations … and the jury is still out on nose rings ;0)

  2. whats horrifying me is that my 3 yr old daughter told me this morning to "just relax". ok so she was right I shouldn't yell quite so much as im trying to get them both out the door on time but come on!....well I hate eyebrow rings....I hate lip rings....but I kinda like nose rings....except the whole snot thing ewwww. I think the upside to getting them at 16 is that he will be over it by 18....fingers crossed x

I'm hoping the novelty will wear off with the arrival of the first head cold.

  5. Christmas tree!! nooooo!!! I am not even thinking about it, far too early- and piercings? gah! Eldest had her belly button done at 15 at Mr F's tattoo parlour, as I worked at a high school at the time (and a first aider) I saw too many girls who had got them done secretly and had HUGE infections, I made the decision for her to get one safely and watched my baby get pierced, she loves it though ps Master 16 sneak pick outfit pics are cool! x x

    1. I totally understand … I would definitely rather take him myself than have him DIY it.

  6. Tell Mr 16 ( he can't be Master anymore with feet that big!) that no worries, he can have a nose ring on the one condition that you and I do the piercing for him! I'm sure I've got a big rusty safety pin here somewhere! We could do a good job of jabbing it through a tender bit of his nose. :-) xxx

  7. My daughter wants a nose ring, too. You and Juliet are invited to come over to do the piercing.

  8. Christmas trees already!! Far too early, just wait for all that Christmas music to totally drive you nuts. I had my nose pierced when I was 40, but I got over it and the hole has closed up. I say let him do it, there are worse things he could want to do that are far more permanent than a tiny wee hole in his snoz, and if you agree to him doing it he may not want to anymore. Good luck!!

    1. Thanks Sue … did it leave much of a scar when it healed over? I'm sure this is a fad with him … and he's likely to not want it as soon as he gets it.

    2. No scar, it is such a small hole. Those stretcher things they all like to put in their ears these days leave huge slits, so a nose ring is nothing!!

  9. We go out for dinner to avoid the whole horrible trick or treating debacle!
Christmas - we keep it as low key as possible.
Nose rings? They are OK, I guess, better than tongue piercing. Let him have one, he can take it out for interviews! xxx
