Twisting by the pool ...

I wrote about a glorious day out … swimming in a beautiful private pool … here.

Unfortunately our swimming amenities at home aren't quite up to that standard … or any standard at all.

But when the mercury rises … and rises … desperate measures are called for … and sometimes taken.

Welcome to our bathing oasis … AKA the boys old baby pool.

You have to wash off the cobwebs first … and check for Redbacks under the rim … and it only fits one … uncomfortably … but hey IT IS A POOL.  It takes an age to fill … specially when the pool filling type person is tempted to use the water source elsewhere.

So impatient … hot people ... have to wait … and maybe use the time constructively … to even out their tan lines.

Still going … someone cue the elevator music.

Finally …  Master 13 decides it is impossible to wait a moment longer.

Just try not to exhaust yourself … swimming all those laps.

Meanwhile … Buster observes the situation from a safe distance … with interest.

But curiosity wins him over … and killed the cat … but that's someone else's story.

"I might give it a go"

"Nope … not for me"

"Or is it?"

"Perhaps just one more try"

"NO… don't like it"

"Or do I?"

"Nope … no way!"

"It's the devils work"

"But I might … "

"I could … "

"NO … ABORT … ABORT!!"

"PHEW … that was a close one"

So my dear Boys … here you are … your own pool in the backyard … just like you always wanted.

Enjoy … cause this is as good as it gets … and don't say your Mother never gives you anything.

  1. Pure luxury - we only have an old bucket over this way. Hope the boys appreciate how lucky they are :)

  2. Oh you are so going to get Mother of the year 2014 if you keep up this sort of extravagance in your back yard!!! The Buster pics are gorgeous, very cute! We had one of those metal framed squares with a liner when the boys were small, they could both lie down in it, I know, spoiled rotten!!

  4. I love Buster. I think he should feature on the blog more often, he's a dog with stories to tell. You're a wonderful mum, providing a pool for your boys. It's not all about size, you know....! xxxx

  8. Boy, it sure looks like you guys had fun! Especially your little dog. I haven't thought about getting out my daughters old baby pool for our dog but you just gave me a great idea to. Thank you for sharing this fantastic idea of what to do on a hot day when a dog needs a little extra cooling off.

  9. Just like the pool I grew up with! Hey, sometimes the good times in life are how you make of your time, not the quality or expense of the items. Your boys - and your dog - seemed to be having a blast so that's really all that matters. And dogs always love kiddie pools so keep filling that up for the little fella!
