Back to school blues ...

The holiday's are over … and I guess they had to end,
Cause the "I'm bored" and "What's to eat?" … have sent me round the bend.
But I will miss the sleep ins … and the lazy non routine,
The idle way I spent the days … reclining like a Queen.

I'll miss the "who cares" attitude I felt towards the washing,
And the guilty thought of dirty floors … I've successfully been squashing.
But now that it's all over … there's really just one winner,
Cause now we're back to normal … I might make Hubby's dinner.

But I must face the cold, hard truth … and no longer be a dreamer,
There are two boys in high school … and yep … one's now a senior.
This reality is hard to swallow … it's detrimental to my health,
How can he be a senior … when I was only just at school myself?

But I'll toughen up and face the facts … if I may be so bold,
There's only one thing this can mean … I'm really getting old.

  3. When they head off to school you should just find a very comfy place to recline in and pretend your holiday is still happening!!!! Works for me. Oh and you are not old, none of us are old, that is a dirty word, we are mature!!

    1. Oh I'm still finding it very hard to shake off the holiday laziness … I had good intentions to clean bathrooms and mop floors … instead I played Angry Birds on the iPad … oops!!!! What were you saying about mature??

  6. The back to school blues can quickly turn into the freedom to do what you want when they are back in school! and why are they growing so quickly! my youngest starts High School this year, what happened? we're not getting old, we are edging towards our own Independence! at the moment I am having thoughts of grown up independent children having lives and holidays just for me and the Mr, oh my Gah! x x x
