Learn to crochet … check ...

A few weeks back I decided to teach myself to crochet … well I decided to let my good friend Mr Google teach me to crochet … he's so helpful like that.

You see I had a bit of wool left from making my pom pom garland … and being such a waste not, want not type of gal I decided to use it up on a crochet blanket or scarf or bookmark … depending on how long my attention span lasted.

I figured I'd just do a few rows each time I sat down to watch the telly … and see how I went.  Well I must watch a heck of a lot of telly because before I knew it I had a whole blanket.

Of course my leftover wool didn't go far … and there were two trips to the craft shop for more before I managed to get to this point … so my thrifty idea ended up costing me … lots … but hey … I made a blanket … a whole blanket.

So then I decided … in the style of a home decor magazine … that I should fold it stylishly over the arm of the sofa …

or drape it artfully over the end of the chaise …

Until Buster decided … in the style of a dirty dog … to just sit on it … and he did.

Make yourself right at home Buster … and he did.

  1. Wow I'm seriously impressed. Teaching yourself to crochet from the interweb is clever, I've been doing a giant granny square blanket since last year, amongst other projects and it's still not finished. Your crochet is very neat with good tension. Resign yourself to the fact that any finished articles are gonna be covered in pet hair,,,I did.

    1. Actually we're pretty lucky with Buster … he's a non shedder … it was a prerequisite cause Hubby gets allergies. But he'll still hog it ;0)

  2. I am standing up and clapping right now!!! Well done you, a whole blanket! Not a book mark or a scarf but a whole blanket!! And so it should be folded and draped and then used by the Buster, master of all. What are you going to make next??

    1. I'm thinking perhaps a scarf … the size will depend on how long the leftover wool lasts ;0)

  3. I'm sooooo impressed, seriously! it's beautiful, and perfect! it makes me want to give crochet another go, I found it almost impossible, I mean I could make finger thimbles, but they were meant to be squares - either way Buster looks adorable (he's posing too, he's a supermodel!) x x x

  7. Love the colours in your blanket Jo and the edging is very neat. Buster obviously likes it too. I end up making blankets just for the cats
