Ikea ... how I love you ...

Yesterday was Day Two of the school holidays and so I did what all self respecting, doting mothers do ... I went out and left the kids at home.

For I had a day out planned at that mass consumerism mecca of the world ... Ikea.

Oh Ikea ... how I love you.

How I love your faux living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, everything.  How I love your vast market hall and it's abundant supply of things I don't need and never will need ... but must have anyway.  How I love your meatballs.  How I love your ostensibly well priced items ... that add up to an eye watering, panic inducing total once I have pushed my trolley along your yellow arrowed route.  How I love everything about you ... until I have to admit to Hubby how much I spent ... and what I spent it on.  How I then curse you ... for your wicked, irresistible seduction of my senses.

My sister and niece were my partners in crime.

Some of us committed more heinous offences than others.

My niece will be let off with a warning.

I can expect to be given a good behaviour bond, community service and my cash card confiscated.

My sister ... guilty as charged.

  1. great pic of your sister 'caught in the act'! I have got lost in Ikea many times, I too particularly love the food, it is the satisfaction of the calzone/hotdog combo that tempt me back, we have gone specifically to eat there! hehe x x

    1. Master 13 often requests "Ikea bacon" for breakfast ... if it wasn't so far away we'd go there just for the food too :0)

  2. Don't forget that you spent more than me!

I nearly went back today. To get all those lovely knick knacks that I didn't get yesterday. And for more meatballs . . .

Has Hubby forgiven you? :-) xxx

  3. I didn't even know they had cafes in Ikea, cos I never go! I HAVE been, with friends in the past, but don't own a single item from there myself! I'm clearly odd... xxx

    1. Oh dear ... you just don't know what you are missing.
Then again, it's probably best not to start ... collecting bits of unnecessary stuff from Ikea can become addictive.

  6. Ikea is a must when we visit the city. It's terrible but our kids think it is a 'night out'!!! Swedish meatballs for one and all, everyone gets a 'prize' from the section of their choice and then back to our reasonably-priced hotel. It's a highlight of every trip!!! Glad we're not the only family with an Ikea problem...

  7. Big Ikea addict here, and it's only a short drive away!!
We're in real trouble though, because my husband loves it as much as I do.
We always start with breakfast in the food hall, before our trek. I just LOVE the coffee!
Love the photo of your guilty sister :) x

    1. Oh you are lucky ... it's an hour and a half drive for us. Then again, perhaps it's for the best ... if I could get there too easily... things could get very expensive :0)

  8. I love Ikea too but unfortunately / fortunately it's over 4 hours away from us so I don't get there very often!
