This little life of mine ...

Master 17 took me to task this week over my lack of "proper" posts in this blogging space of mine.

"But I've been putting up my photo a day posts" I defended weakly.

He just gave me the look … you know the one … the I expect better one, I didn't raise you like that one, the no effort is no reward one … aaahh … I've taught that boy well.

"It's just that there's nothing going on … nothing to write about … nothing to share."

"Mum" *long suffering sigh* "Mum, you used to write a post almost every day and they were never about anything!"

Right.

Point taken.

So here's a refreshing NEW post about nothing.

I spent a very constructive afternoon tidying and reorganising my linen press.

Look at it!!  It's a flaming work of art!!

I tried to flog Master 14's old bed off on Facebook … but didn't get any takers.  So it remains in situ … taking pride of place in my lounge room.

I'm considering surrounding it with a velvet rope and calling it a sculptural installation.

I shaved my legs!!

I'm yet to do anything about their lily whiteness.

"An apple a day keeps the Doctor away"  … or so I've been told.  So I painted two.

I didn't actually eat any … I was too full from the Snickers bar and the packet of Twisties.

Oh … and I remembered to feed and water the dog.

That's always helpful.

My Life By Me

My little life is boring
You must be glad it's mine.
There's ne'er a grand adventure
To take up all my time.
Each day is filled with this and that,
Miscellaneous, humdrum stuff.
I cannot speak of thrills and spills,
They don't happen … interestingly enough.
So I just plod on so tediously,
It's the same thing every day.
And the only thing surprising me,
I wouldn't have it any other way!!

  1. I love your life! I think it's exciting. Those apples are beautiful. And I have shaved my pale freckley legs in ages so that photo got me pretty charged. Don't worry about the younger generation. They are on a different wave length (like I need to to tell you that). My daughter talked me into starting twitter and instagram accounts. "Mom! You NEED to be on instagram!" I feel silly every time I post something there and it's kind of a waste of time....which is why I haven't gotten around to shaving my legs. Keep the Jo life coming. I love it.

  2. Can we see a 'before' shot of the linen press? I could eat those apples, because I've sworn off Snickers and Twisties, and I'm here to tell you I HAVEN'T shaved my legs since who knows when. Can't be bothered . . . Is that called 'letting yourself go'? Well, I've let and I'm gone . . .

    1. I'd love to claim that the first photo was the "before" shot … but I'm afraid that's an after too … there is no way you'd have described anything about it as tidy if you'd seen it before I started ;0)

  8. Well, most people's lives are pretty routine, aren't they? Your house always looks immaculate and organised to me (mine most definitely is NOT...)
Fantastic painting. Art and poetry - how can you say nothing goes on round your way?! xxx

  9. I now have a crush on your lovely, tidy linen cupboard (does that sound like something from Carry On?!!ha!) put a velvet rope round the bed, and occasionally nod approvingly at it! shaving legs is always a triumph, I always feel quite proud when I do mine (seriously) and your painting of the apples is brilliant, I love it and the stalks of the apples too, bloody amazing - love your poem too x x x

    1. Shaved legs really ARE a triumph … but like a clean floor they never seem to stay that way for long ;0)

  10. Your tidy cupboards are remindng me that I should make a start on my own.
Love the apples, as a non artist I am thinking they must be really difficult to get to actually look like apples and not just roundish green shapes, but yours definitely look like apples.
I think uneventful is good in life Jo, good to see you embracing day to dayness and you always do it so entertainingly xx

  12. Master 17 if right, of course. This is a brilliant post and now we are all happy again. I know what you mean though, when so many blogs are full of photos of the amazing places people went and I hardly go anywhere and if I do I probably don't take photos. What if you did one post a week that is a photographic illustration of your day, with the challenge being to find the beauty in the mundane, but don't just post the pics, write something too like you did today. Or, you could just do whatever the feck you want to do and do it your way!
    xoxo

Love the apples! I have been telling myself I am going to paint some stills-fruit,veg etc but then I keep eating them and ruining my display. I could take a photo but that might be a bit too organised.
Your closet is indeed a work of art!
