There was a birthday ...

There were brightly wrapped parcels.

There was a card.

There was an oscar winning performance of fake surprise.

There was some supermodel style posing.

There was a tiny bit of actual surprise.

There was a cake baked.

There was dinner out.

There were candles lit.

There were candles blown …

out.

There was cake cut ...

and eaten.

There was seriousness.

And not so seriousness.

And then there was the realisation that someone will be an adult in twelve months time!

    1. I sure did … I asked him what he wanted and it was "something from scratch" … so the lazy option of a packet cake went out the window ;0)

  5. Happy Birthday to him! Loved the card. What is it about boys and things like that? My son bought his nephew, my youngest grandson, something similar for his ninth birthday recently. A guide to farts. From Kmart. It went up and down the table at pizzeria here and all the grandkids nearly fell off their chairs laughing.

  7. LOL-it is a bit scary. Mine is an adult now and mostly I just keep thinking, OMG I'm the mother of an adult. I'm coming over for cake! It looks awfully good and I'm counting on M17 to not have eaten it all yet. I Love your painting and do hope that will be framed and displayed somewhere!

  12. Lovely photos! I like the candles blown out one :-) a lovely memory. Also your scream painting...Ahhh! In a good way. I'm still getting over the 12th birthday. Teenage next year, although puberty already started...what? We are so slow to keep up, us Mums. Maybe we need the cake more than them! XO JJ
