Reality … check ...

I'm struggling a little at the moment … not with anything bad … I mean I really have nothing to complain about and I realise that.  But I'm battling with a heavy, suffocating inertia … an overwhelming lack of motivation … a complete and utter deprivation of inspiration.

It's not that my brain can't come up with anything … it just couldn't be bothered.

I can't blame the weather … it may be winter but our days had been sunny …the temperatures have been cool but not cold.  The nights are cold … but I like that.  I just ducked out the back door and snapped this … see … nothing to complain about there.

Last week was windy … very, very windy … cyclonic really.  But we survived … the roof stayed on … though the garden arch may have bowed a little under the pressure.  But hey it was totally excellent for getting the washing dry.

Buster has been taking advantage of the sunny days to see if he can find any seasonally confused lizards to slaughter … so far he has been entirely unsuccessful … thank goodness.

I'm haven't been busy … the opposite really.  It's school holidays … and we are enjoying sleep ins, lazy starts and  unscheduled days.  Lots of sitting by the fire … pondering why my arse is so lazy.

The boys are providing the usual holiday background roar of football, bad TV and PlayStation kill streaks.  That's always a joy.

There is one thing that has been getting my goat and has me gritting my teeth … cans of drink.   The vast number of them … and the complete and utter inability of their consumer to finish them and dispose of them.  It sounds petty I know … it is petty I know … but I just wandered around the house and snapped these shots … so you can understand a little of my pain.

And there was the startling epiphany that was forced upon me in the pharmacy the other day.  As I went to buy face cream … and realised that my usual one is no longer aimed at my age group.  That I'm not … *gasp* … 35 plus … I am in fact 40 -50.  Now that could set a girl … I mean a middle aged matron … back a bit.

What I really need is to stop moping around … pull up my socks … get a grip … and get on with it … and I will … tomorrow!

Pinky promise.

  2. Winter takes any motivation away I think. I haven't been overly motivated of late but I had to kick myself up the bum, take some harden the @%#! pills and get a grip, also TOF is home for a couple of days so that has helped. School holidays and teenage boys endless mess is enough to make anyone lose their mind! It is a bloke thing for sure. And if you dare say anything you are told to Chill Out, chance would be a fine thing!!! But Jo you will survive, as everyday Summer is getting closer, just hold that thought and you will see light at the end of that tunnel!!

  5. There's something in the air, I am being a lazy arse too! Ah well - it's not the worst crime in the world, is it?
Those cans would drive me bonkers! I'm with Sue, I'd stop buying them. I got so sick of telling Claudia to put her ever-increasing pile of washing away, and her ignoring me, that I scooped it all up, hid it, and told her I had given it to a charity shop. She was beside herself! And when I came clean, she put it all away, immediately. Ooh, tough love!
Meanwhile, I am noodling about reading blogs with Wimbledon on the TV... Well, someone's got to! xxxx

  6. When these lazy days roll around I say, "give into them!" You will need to reserve your energy as can emptier. I had to go out of town for a few days so I INTENTIONALLY left a half empty pitcher of lemonade right on the counter. Impossible to ignore. I wanted to see if a) somebody would put it into the fridge. b) somebody would empty it out. Or Bonus Point c) somebody would empty it out and wash it. I came home to find the pitcher exactly where I left it with a nice layer of mold growing on top. Sigh.....that being said I love the sound of my family just hanging around the house doing their thing.

  8. I too would go crazy with those cans around and I'm in the not buying any camp! You will get out of your inertia phase soon enough. Just tell yourself you are taking up yoga and need to perfect the corpse pose.
